One person started writing. 80,000 started reading.
Chrisman Commentary began as a daily email from a mortgage industry veteran to a handful of colleagues. It grew because it was useful. No marketing budget. No paid acquisition. Just a trusted voice, every morning, for more than 18 years.
It started with one person's observations.
Rob Chrisman entered mortgage banking more than 40 years ago. Over the next two decades he worked across origination, secondary marketing, capital markets, and servicing. He saw every cycle, every crisis, and every shift in the industry from the inside.
Around 2008, he started sending a daily email to colleagues. Short, direct, data-first. What happened yesterday, what it means today, what to watch tomorrow. No press releases. No spin. Just what the industry needed to know, written by someone who’d spent a career learning how to read the signals.
That email became Chrisman Commentary. It grew because people forwarded it. The colleague list became a subscriber list. The subscriber list became the largest and most engaged daily audience in mortgage.
Today, Chrisman Commentary is a media company. The daily newsletter is still the anchor. But around it, Robbie Chrisman has built a daily podcast, a network of video shows, a provider marketplace, a job board, and a thought leadership platform that reaches the most influential audience in mortgage.
The editorial voice hasn’t changed. Short sentences. No jargon. Data first, opinion second. The occasional dad joke. Rob still writes the daily commentary. That consistency is what makes everything else possible.
The modernization is what makes it a platform. Every new channel, every new show, every new product is built to amplify the trust Rob earned over four decades. Not to replace it.

Not just big. Concentrated.
A lot of publications claim large subscriber lists. What makes Chrisman different is who’s reading and how they’re reading. This isn’t a casual scroll-and-skip audience. These are professionals who open the newsletter at their desk during market hours, read it on desktop, and use it to make decisions.
31 percent of subscribers are decision-makers. Over 3,000 are C-suite executives. 97 percent of clicks happen on desktop during business hours. The open rate is 59 percent — roughly three times the industry average for B2B newsletters.
The audience isn’t just reachable. It’s the right audience, in the right context, at the right moment.
